In 1987 Mike Hernandez, received his Bachelors Degree in Environmental Design at Texas A&M University and the University of Florence in Italy then later received an Executive MBA from Emory University, Executive Education Programs at Harvard Business School and London School of Economics. Mike spent 17 years as a Commercial Architect then 5 years as a Commercial Developer in the US before joining Emaar Dubai in 2008. In his 10 years as a real estate developer in the MENA region, he has worked with Emaar in Dubai and KSA, Qatari Diar in Qatar and Morocco as well as Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah and Emaar in King Abdullah Economic City, KSA. In these capacities he has developed waterfront resorts, residential communities and mixed-use developments in UAE, Morocco, Qatar, Syria and Saudi Arabia.
Mike recently joined the Saudi Arabian Government’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) to assume the Executive Director of Real Estate Development role on the Qiddiya entertainment “Giga project”. The 82,500 acre development is a green field development including theme parks, resorts, retail, multiple sports and cultural venues, and residential among others. In this capacity, Mike is responsible for the resort district components including hospitality, retail, golf and residential.
