Christof Rühl is Global Head of Research, responsible for creating and leading a global research function to provide economic, geopolitical and energy market analysis to the Fund. He assumed this role in 2014.Mr. Rühl has a distinguished track record as an economist in academia, policy making and business. From 2005 to 2014 he was Group Chief Economist and Vice President of BP plc. He served at the World Bank (1998-2005) as the Bank’s Chief Economist in Russia and in Brazil. From 1996-98 he held the position of Principle Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London. Mr. Rühl began his career as an academic economist, first in Germany and from 1991 as Professor of Economics at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). Mr. Rühl held Visiting Professorships at academic institutions worldwide. His areas of specialisation are macroeconomics and energy economics. He is published and quoted widely in these fields.
