Aly Shariff, Chief Operating Officer at Citymax Hotels, part of the Landmark Group Hospitality division, holds over 25 years of experience in the service sector. Aly has held a host of roles including operations, real estate and business development in capital-intensive and people-intensive businesses. His work experience extends across the United Kingdom, India, South East Asia and the Middle East. Born and educated in the UK, Aly holds an undergraduate degree in Hotel Management and a Masters Degree in International Business Studies & Human Resources.
Aly is a strong believer in putting the guest at the centre of the business and describes his job as ‘delighting guests by making everyday experiences special’. He advocates the People Profit Chain as the ultimate goal of service sector businesses and firmly believes that engaging teams and empowering them to be the best they can be, leads to happy guests, strong brand advocacy and ultimately the financial health of a business.
Aly successfully executed the start-up of the Premier Inn hotel brand across international territories by developing and establishing hotels across India and South East Asia, ensuring brand relevant and economically relevant growth through rigorous network planning and resource prioritization.
He has effectively managed both partner and owner relationships, across multiple business models - sole ownership, JV’s and management agreements. Aly is also well versed in acquiring and selling businesses, leading integration teams and large-scale change/organizational projects.
In addition, Aly has a wealth of experience in generalist and specialist Human Resource roles at both Business Unit and Corporate levels, focused on commercial & strategic change initiatives.
In his spare time Aly enjoys family time with his 3 children as well as being a keen (but slow) runner, cook and a photographer.
