MEA Board of Hospitality Asset Managers Association Converges for Annual General Meeting

2nd AGM adopted vital initiatives to drive sustainability and support Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision

18th April, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE: The 2018 Annual General Meeting of the Hospitality Asset Managers Association (HAMA) Middle East & Africa took place yesterday (Tuesday 17th April) at the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, as a preliminary to the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference.

HAMA MEA is one of six global chapters of HAMA, the industry forum for hospitality asset management best practice. HAMA represents the interests of Hotel Owners in all Industry Forums and promotes professional excellence, best practices and standards as well as education promotion of the professional practice of Hospitality Asset Management. HAMA MEA members represent over 100,000 Hotel Rooms, largely in the UAE but with membership throughout the Middle East and Africa.

During the annual general meeting, the HAMA MEA Board underlined its priorities for 2018 with the development of key strategic initiatives, including an impetus on growing its reach in Saudi Arabia and facilitating Certificate in Hotel Asset Management (CHAM) accreditations for its membership base across the Kingdom.

Another area of focus for the regional chapter is Sustainable Asset Management, which was highlighted by key note speech by founder and owner of the iconic Soneva brand, Mr. Sonu Shivdasani, a first mover and leader in adopting sustainable principles within the luxury hospitality market; and follow on to the HAMA MEA involvement in the Costa Rican International Sustainable Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference (SAHIC) past November 2017, which was represented in the forum by Mr. Cristian Roberts & Mr. Javier Pacheco from Prime LATAM Asset Management & Enjoy group respectively of Costa Rica.

HAMA MEA President, Mr. René Beil, also announced the appointment of Mr. Amit Nayak as Vice President and Mr. Giuliano Gasparini as Board Education Chair.
