Managing Director; Real Estate, Investment and Agency Services
Zain Qureshi is a Managing Director in the Corporate & Investment Banking Group at Mashreq and heads Real Estate Finance & Advisory, an industry group with dedicated coverage, structuring and advisory teams. He established the bank’s real estate practice in 2006, which has since grown aggressively to encompass debt products, a market-leading trust management business, buy- and sell-side advisory activities, strategic advice, restructuring and capital raising.
Over the past decade, Zain has consolidated Mashreq’s presence in the regional real estate space and successfully originated and executed significant deal flow with mid-market and large-cap regional family conglomerates, private / public corporates, sovereign and government-related institutions. During his time as Head of Real Estate, Mashreq became the first bank to be mandated by the Real Estate Regulatory Agency to manage trust accounts, and was also one of the first banks in the UAE to provide non-recourse financing to an offshore, privately-held SPV for a greenfield development. In 2014-2015, transactions that the Real Estate division executed with blue-chip clients helped Mashreq win prestigious honours, such as the EMEA Finance Award for “Best Regional Investment Bank in the Middle East”.
Zain works with all the major real estate developers in the GCC and has established strategic relationships with regulatory bodies and service providers in the region. In addition, he is spearheading Mashreq’s foray into real estate fund management and structuring a principal DIFC Qualified Investor Fund which will deploy debt and equity capital in Shariah-compliant opportunities across the GCC.
Zain also heads the Investment and Agency Services divisions for Mashreq and manages the Corporate Restructuring Portfolio. Previously, he held senior positions at Deutsche Bank and Bank of America, where he spent considerable time working in Leverage Finance based primarily out of London.
